This project is very easy. I love
Hydrangeas and it seems each mini-maker has a different way of
making them. I found this to be the easiest for me. Hope you
all find this project as fun as I did!
Start by making pea sized balls of oven-bake
clay. I like to vary the size slightly to add to the realism
of the finished plant.
Use floral wire to create a tiny 'hook' at
one end of the wire. I used my needle-nose tweesers to make the
hook on my floral wire.
Now just push your balls of clay onto the 'hook'
side of your floral wire. Don't play with it by rolling it between
your fingers to try and give it a more secure fitting! It will
be bonded well during the baking process.
Bake the stems according to the instructions
of your oven-bake clay. Be sure to protect any dishware you use
for food. Don't over bake.
Using acrylic paints, paint strips of paper
in the colors you would like your Hydrangeas to be. I like to
have some of my blossoms light green to add to the realism of
the plant. Don't use gloss paint.
Make sure to color paper for leaves also.
I used this corner punch for my blossoms. This
punch was found at Michaels Floral and Craft Stores. It was $9.99
and I used the 40% off coupon as I always do :)
Place your blossoms on craft foam or use a
computer mouse pad. Use a ball stylus to cup petals. Then add
the petals to the pea sized balls of clay you made.
Cover the
balls with the blossoms. Don't forget to add a few
light green blossoms to the flower.
Find a container of your choice to add your beauties!
Add some leaves, and you can add a dot to the center of some
of the blossoms. I won't add the dot the next time I make these.
I didn't like the way it looked.
